Fahrenheit to Celsius Chart
°F °C °F °C
95 35.0 87 30.5
94 34.4 86 30.0
93 33.9 85 29.4
92 33.3 84 28.9
91 32.7 83 28.3
90 32.2 82 27.8
89 31.6 81 27.2
88 31.1 80 26.6

If your desired reading is not in the above chart, you can calculate it yourself. Here's the detail:

Fahrenheit (°F) = Celsius (°C) X1.8 + 32

Celsius (°C) = [ Fahrenheit (°F) - 32 ] / 1.8

Calculating the Volume of a tank

Length (cm) X Width (cm) X Height (cm) / 1000 = Volume (Liters)

Height x Length x Width (inches) X 0.0043 = Volume (Gallons)

Converting Tank Measurments

Inches X 2.54 = Centimeters

Feet X 30 = Centimeters

Water Hardness Chart
Soft 0 to 75 ppm
Moderately Hard 75 to 150 ppm
Hard 150 to 300 ppm
Very Hard 300+ ppm

Grains per Gallon (gpg) 1 gpg = 17.1 ppm

Degrees Hardness (DH) 1 DH = 17 ppm

Calculation for Medication

1 Part per Million (ppm)  =  1 milligram per liter (mg/L)

1 Part per Million (ppm)  =  3.78 milligram per US gallon (mg/gal)

1 Part per Million (ppm)  =  4.55 milligram per UK gallon (mg/gal)

>>For pure dry powder medications

In gallons

Dose in milligrams   =   gallons of water   x   desired dosage in ppm (mg/L)   x   3.785 L/gallon

For Example - You want to calculate the amount of potassium permanganate for a 3ppm long term bath in a 45 gallon tank.

Dose in milligrams  =  45 gallons  x  3ppm (mg/L)  x  3.785 L/gallon =  510.975mg

In liters

Dose in milligrams   =   liters of water   x   desired dosage in ppm (mg/L)

For Example - You want to calculate the amount of potassium permanganate for a 2ppm long term bath in a 200 liter tank.

Dose in milligrams  =  200 liters  x  2ppm (mg/L)  =  400 milligrams (mg)

>>For liquid medications not 100% pure

In gallons

Dose in milliliters (ml)   =   gallons of water   x   desired dosage in ppm (mg/L)   x   0.0038  x  "purity factor" (100 / purity in %)

For Example - You want to calculate the amount of a 20% potassium permanganate solution for a 3ppm long term bath in a 45 gallon tank.

Dose in milliliters (ml)  =  45 gallons  x  3ppm (mg/L)  x  0.0038   x  100/20  =  1.67 ml
