The Tools and Stuffs in Decoration
What's needed and what to do?

There are many kinds of decoration has been shown to you. Assuming you know what are the preferences of your fishes, let's take a look at the individual parts that would help decorate your tank. The items which you use to furnish your tank should reflect the fishes natural biotope.

A little about, Aquascaping

Now you've gathered your rocks, acquired some driftwood and decided on plants or no plants.

It's really rather easy to get started with. Use your imagination and creativity, try all the layouts you can think of. Normally a big centerpiece such as a large rock or piece of driftwood in the middle of the tank is a great way to start aquascaping. It's your tank anyway, so do what you like. Put the plants in front, place the wood behind. Make sure it suits your taste or liking, or else you would not feel good about it when you admiring your tank.

For myself, the most important rule is to put smaller objects in the front leading up to tall plants at the back. Short, bushy plants such as Sagittaria species should stay in the foreground, while large big-leaved plants such as the Amazon Sword plant (Echinodorus amazonicus) should go to the back.

Use the information you've learned along with your imagination and start decorating! Aquascaping is 10% skill and 90% imagination. Learn what works best for you and your Discus, then you'll have a tank that would catch the eye of anyone passing by. Take a look at the next page for tank examples, if you have no idea what layout you want.
