The Tools and Stuffs in Decoration
What's needed and what to do?

This is my recently redecorated tank. It's a five-foot tank. All the plants you see are artificial. You can see that I used a background paper to give the impression of a planted tank and also give my Discus more greenery!

Then where are the Discus?

Yup, I knew you were going to ask that question. The Discus are on a holiday! Hehe... They went to an empty tank for a week or so, as I re-setup this tank. I left one clown loach there to get the nitrogen cycle going. This tank needs time for bio-cycling. It's a process of letting the tank "mature" and enabling beneficial bacteria to grow on all surfaces and especially in the filter media. You can then have the bacteria to break down the fishes waste. After this process, the tank would be able to take a loading of the fishes waste. Thus, preventing any large amounts of ammonia or nitrite from being present in the water.

Here's the layout of my five-foot tank!

In this layout, I tried to bring the ornaments closer to the front. I was inspired to give the viewer, a close up feel when they look at the tank. The wood protruding to the foreground and plants reaching right to the front glass help me with that inspiration.

I was also thinking of a semi-barren aquascape for easy maintenance and cleanliness. That's why I left large amounts of empty spaces everywhere. In addition, I didn't want food scrapes to get trap in the pebbles. Leaving me with the thought of establishing a bigger empty area, in the centre of the tank. You could see that feature and it's over there that I normally feed my Discus.

Conclusion

Hey! It's the end of my decoration tutorial... I would be glad if you benefited from all this information and use it to create pleasant environment for your Discus.
