Day 2 - Wrapping everything up...
Having seen not enough, I decided to go back once again to
Aquarama 2001. At one particular booth I saw a weird thing,
neon coloured Zebra Danios! They were in different colours,
neon pink, green, blue and yellow. I was shocked at first, but
with close examination, I found out that the fish looked terrible!
Parrotfish were also seen in multi-colours at another booth.
<<
Ohh.. my! This is very hypnotizing!
I hope they wouldn't create neon coloured Discus. Ohh... I
don't want to think of it! With lots of crossbreeding, having
neon coloured Discus would not help and it is not natural. It's
kind of against Mother Nature.
>>
What a crowd it is in here! You can see some of them are Love
Tails. It's a mutation I think. No tail at all.
Once again I was at the competition area, this time looking
more closely at the winners of the Discus competition. I personally
love the Golden Melon from Chai Discus Farm. It won the first
prize in Class 2 category. The red colouration on the body at
the Discus is very breathtaking. It looks like a tomato, so
cute! I went around the next row of tanks and I was back at
the Grand Champion tank.

The Grand Champion tank
I didn't get a good shot with the Grand Champion yesterday,
so I took more photos with it. This time it appeared in my picture.
Haha!!! This is fun!
<<
Me with the Grand Champ again! You can see the Betta section
at the background.
Anyway, I had more time on hand so I decided to get away from
Discus for a while and looked around closely. I was particularly
interested in the Guppy section. Everyone knows that Singapore
is a leading exporter of Guppies around the world. The varieties
found at this section were plentiful. There were fully black
ones and also some with thin lines like the Snakeskin Discus.
Getting tired I sped off to Chai Discus Farm booth, where I
glanced through their collection of Discus one more time. I
took a photo with Mr Chai, my "Discus teacher" and
left for home.

I was satisfied and glad that the exhibition went well. It
was well-planned and it was rather grand. But there was one
thing that left me disappointed. I had in mind to take in some
wild Discus. There was none at Aquarama 2001. Not even one for
sale. I know wild Discus are unpopular among many breeders here
in Singapore. I haven't come across any breeder who has wild
ones for sale.
To conclude, I have something shocking to share with you. There
is an aquarium store close to my home. In there, they have Wild
Green Red Spotted Discus for sale. Do you know the price of
one specimen? It's a whooping S$1000!!!!! Haha, cool huh?
Thanks for reading about my experience at Aquarama 2001. I
really appreciate your kind interest at heart!
Yours sincerely,
Sam
