Heckel & Heckedy, Soon after I acquired a number of
Hybrid Discus, I grew to appreciate Wild Discus as well! They come
from the Amazon River in the wild and that thought made me idolise
them. Heckels amazed me with their thick 5th stress bar. A feature
I saw in photos on the Internet. It was very unique in the sense,
only Heckels have this characteristic. At first, it was tough getting
one specimen in sight. Then began a hunt all over Singapore to find
a Heckel. In a tropical farm, halfway across my country I stumbled
upon a tank inhabited by 12 Heckels!
I bought Heckel (left) first, then after two weeks I returned to
the same place and bought Heckedy! I was very dumbfounded by the
beauty they possessed. Graceful and agile. These two Discus actually
was in the Amazon River once.

Soon after quarantine, I transferred both of them in to a 2-feet
tank together. They didn't fight, neither did they bully each other.
I guess they must be a pair! I hope I have in my hands a pair of
Wild Heckels. Although Wilds are extremely hard to breed sucessfully,
I would try and who knows. I would be looking at numerous baby Discus
with thick strips on their bodies.
