Here I was at Chai Discus Farm, in my Nike shirt and a bermudas
on. I was all geared to head into the shop when I saw my Discus
buddy Edwin. It was a surprise as he is one of the regular here.
I said "HI!" and did some greeting. Especially to
the owner of this store, Mr and Mrs Chai. They are real friendly
and I love to chat with Mrs Chai and learn more about Discus
from her.

Edwin and I pose for a picture
outside the Chai Discus Farm.
It's been a long time since I got here. Three weeks perhaps.
(Hehe... I come here once a week normally) I hurried to the
explore the new Discus. To my surprise, almost all fishes in
the tanks were new!

Discus and some accessories.
The first ones I came upon were the Red White. They were rather
weird looking. Small little patches on their all white bodies.
I heard from Mrs Chai that these are the offspring of the Aquarama
2001 Class 2 champion.
It was breed with a Snow White to bare these red-white hybrids.

This place is not a real Discus farm where mass breeding and
rearing occurs. Selective breeding is done here in a rather
small scale. I got to take a look at what's at the back of the
store once. I went in to the NO ENTRY area. No! It's not without
the permission from Mrs Chai. I wanted to relief myself and
had to go to the restroom. That's when I was shocked at what
was behind. I have always thought there was some breeding was
going on behind, but I was shocked at the number of tanks with
lots of Discus! I didn't want to take photos here, because it's
not ethical. Nonetheless, I looked around a little to satisfy
my curiosity.

I spotted a shoal of 2.5 inches Golden Sunrise in one tank.
In another, two huge red based Discus. Most likely the Golden
Melon or the Super Melon strain, from which all the descendants
came about. They were so large, that their actions were slow.
Hehe...
<<
The Red Whites are very tiny,
around an inch in size only.
A couple Leopard Snakes were present too. Chai Discus is famous
for a few strains that they breed. Leopard Snakes are one of
the few. The others are Millennium Gold, Super Melon, Golden
Melon and Snow White.
